Just a thought...
Imagine, if due to some great natural calamity or a completely devastating war, mankind is reduced to the state it was in, many centuries ago.. meaning that all technology, devices, buildings and books are out of reach for us.. all thats left, are a group of people left to fend for themselves and rebuild a comfortable world from scratch.
Its just a thought.. my assumptions are not even solid or fool-proof right now- so no questions about what is left and what is accessible.
If you are in this scenario : -
What have you got to offer to mankind? What skill or talent or gift can you use, and how - to construct a world and life suitable for living and for further progress, not only to reach the point we were at before, but to perhaps correct some mistakes from the past and to set a pace for man that cannot falter.
The question arises if its going to be a scientific idea or ethics or politics or religion..
But just assume that we've lost all what we had from before- we are forced to start afresh, with only ourselves and our minds and all that we've been able to learn about the world and life and people.
Do we already have something within us, some kind of skill or capability that - but only one single thing that we are good at - that can help rebuild a society that has been razed to the ground?
You know how to make money? no use- there exists no economy nor market
You are a good orator? but can you think and envisage progress
You write well? perhaps you can record events for later use but again can you do something for advancement
You can counsel people well? can you show them the path to look forward, move forward and stay forward?
Can you change such a society? Can you be a cause or inspiration for such a society to develop and evolve? Can you offer such a gift that will prove invaluable inspite of the great loss?
This is not a situation of ethics or morals, this is a standpoint where we ask ourselves what is the one aptitude or prowess we can give the world. One that can and will help in moving forward from nothing. and in that too, are we confident enough or are we expert enough ?
The challenge, more simply put, is how we can identify the one thing we are good at and how we can wield it to restore all that is lost. It may even be a simple talent, but how we envision that it can help men repair the world is the question.

Interesting ! Weirdly enough this thought does not make me sad abt the world going primitive... it excites me coz there's loads to do...Its like your given an empty sheet of paper and said Its all yours to play around with. Rather than having to go through the pain of rubbing off stubborn stains!!

Actually i thought of it before. I wanted to go to adam's period.... with everything destroyed ,me, the adam guy with my eve.wow!!! what a situation. I will first cut down that apple tree and then rear a mongoose... Then happily live forever in complete nirvana as in paradise with my eve.......hehehehehehe:)

Well...man is creative enough to dig himself outta situations. So far all progress that has been made is just about conquering challenges.
But the thing is, with general intelligence, i guess one can rebuild. So, we seem to be fine from this viewpoint. But...the one thing thats different from our ancestors is that we have a pre-knowledge...of our past. So, that might kill or slow down progress...so, if mankind can survive for a coupla generations somehow, then progress and a new beginning is guaranteed...after the people forget the past.
Of course, all this can happen only with good leadership.

well it all comes to the extent of your desire.
what you feel is enough for survival and is needed and when u feel contempted.
well if you have the mind to do anything to uphold peace with love and affection.....then you can build whatever you want the world to be..whether there is someone to help you or not.

i think we would be able to build a better world da, cos we will already know how mankind progressed and the mistakes they made, so we can develope the world without making the same mistakes. well atleast i hope the only survivers will be able to do that.
if i am one of them i can help in one way for sure. increase the population
